Blast from the past

Last night I had dinner with Tina, one of my best friends from high school. We had lost touch during our college years. She has apparently been searching for me online off and on for years now, and she finally found me and sent me an email about a week and a half ago.

We spent four hours last night getting caught up on the past 20 years of our lives. It was so good to see her again, and the best part was that there was no awkwardness or getting-to-know-you-all-over-again type of feelings -- as soon as we saw each other, the conversation started flowing and didn't stop until we realized that it was late and we both needed to get home.

The funniest thing is that we realized we work two blocks away from each other and often eat lunch at the same restaurant, yet we've never run into each other. We will now be making plans for lunch dates as often as we can.

It's interesting how differently we've gone about our lives, yet how similar we are in terms of our outlooks, politics, etc., and how many things we still have in common. I'm so happy to have reconnected with her.

Now that is spooky on eating at the same joint and never bumping into each other.

I know! She also lived pretty close to me a couple of years ago, and we shopped at the same grocery store but never ran into each other there, either.
